  • Opaque Lenses: These lenses will work best for those who wish to completely change their eye color to something new. This is an exciting product for those who desire a new look as you can select from a wide range of colors to suit your preference. Match your favourite outfit or your hair color.
  • Special effect Lenses: These lenses are extra special as they give the wearer an out of this world look. Embrace your inner creativity and become anything you desire. May that be a vampire, zombie, cat or alien. The possibilities are endless, only your imagination can determine that. Factors to Consider Before Buying Color Contact Lenses:

  • Prescription: If you are purchasing colored contacts you may want to see your eye doctor first to get a health checkup and make sure you are able to wear them safely. Also, if you require a prescription for your lenses you will need this up to date to enable you to see clearly. Non-prescription lenses are also available.
  • Eye Size and Shape: You are able to purchase colored contact lenses in various sizes depending on the look you are going for. For instance the Sclera lenses we stock come in mini (17mm) and full (22mm), which are both larger than the standard contact lens size we stock. Make sure you know which size you require before buying and pay attention to this during the purchase process.

Please follow these steps with your colored contacts to get them into place safely. This may seem daunting if it is your first time but once you do it a few times it’ll become a easy routine.

Inserting Color Contact Lenses:

  • Wash your hands: Start off by washing your hands thoroughly, with soap and warm water. Then inspect them to make sure they are free of any dirt or debris.
  • Make sure the lenses and eyes are free of any dirt or debris: Look at the lenses and check for any damage, dirt or debris. Then look at your eyeballs and check them to ensure the same is true. This is essential before beginning to place the lenses into your eyes.
  • Use your preferred hand: Hold your eye open by the eyelids using your preferred hand to keep it open.
  • Preparing the lens: Take the lens from the container and place it into your hand. Get the lens so it is on the tip of your index finger, making sure it is a perfect bowl shape, which ensures the lens is the correct way up.
  • Look up: Use your hand to keep the eye lids open and look up.
  • Inserting the lens: Slide the lens into place by gently pushing it onto the eye whilst looking into a mirror. If you are blinking reflexively don’t worry this is normal and will not happen with more practice.
  • Blink to set the correct placement: Now, blink a few times to get the lens into the correct place in the middle of the eye. This will happen naturally as the shape of the lens conforms to your eyeball. Blink until the lens is feeling comfortable and settled, with your vision looking clear.

Removing Color Contact Lenses:

  • Wash your hands: Just like in the steps for inserting the lens start off by washing your hands thoroughly, with soap and warm water.
  • Look Up: Use your fingers to pull the lower eye lid down to expose the contact lens.
  • Slide the lens: Move the lens down into the section of the eye which is only white.
  • Remove the lens: Gently pinch the lens with your thumb and index finger to remove it from the eye. If your eye is dry this may be difficult. Have some saline drops to hand and drop these in the eye to lubricate the lens and make removal easier.
  • Storage: Now the lens has been removed clean it in saline solution and store it in a clean contact lens case filled with some solution.

Maintaining Your Colored Contact Lenses:

  • Remove your lenses:  Wash your hands thoroughly before making contact with your eyes or your contact lenses. Take your lenses out before you go to sleep or engage in any water activities like swimming.
  • Clean your lenses:  Make sure to maintain the longevity of your lenses by ensuring they are cleaned with solution to avoid debris and germ build up.
  • Replace them when needed: Look at the manufacturer’s stated expiration date and do not keep your lenses for longer. Also look at the time the lenses can be used for once opening, as this may be sooner than the expiry date.
  • Storage: Keep your lenses in a clean case which is filled with solution in order to keep your lenses from drying up.
  • Avoid contamination: If you wear eye makeup be wary of this contaminating the contact lenses and rinse them thoroughly after any contact with these products.
  • Don’t sleep with lenses: Before sleeping remove your colored contact lenses. Do not keep your lenses in for extended periods of time, remove them to allow your eye to take a break and get some air.
  • Avoid damaging the lens:  Be careful when handling your contact lenses, do not use your nails to touch the lenses as this could damage them and make them uncomfortable to wear.
